Bon Anniversaire, Ma Mère!

by coffeesister on 24 January 2008

An ability to see beyond the pale,
Recognizing hope in the shadows,
Trusting first and foremost in love;
Questioning allows for discovery –
An independent view of the world,
Finding wonder in unlikely nooks,
Taking refuge in discovered beauty;
Aesthetic purpose is proven worthy.

Not simply to be sought but created,
Via means personal and miraculous,
Through more than possible alone;
More than creation from only within –
Not just given but allowed in as well,
Born both of intention and request,
Granted as journey and destination;
Nothing but children can encompass.

White Bird Flying
The innate art in all that is organic,
Exists as fact as well as fulfillment,
Internal naïveté becomes a choice;
With childlike wonder thus achieved –
The need to be and have a child met,
So an inherent wisdom is imparted,
For beauty infuses all said and seen;
Thus self-doubt may stand idly by.

All hesitance is ever more in check,
Seeking truth rather than reasons,
Knowing order exists despite chaos;
Choosing inspiration over defeat –
All is perceived with a loving heart,
Becoming more complete every day,
Fostering creations formed and found;
Artistry that goes beyond the page.

This gave me goosebumps and warm fuzzies. The entire piece was packed with power, but this bit really hit home:

“All hesitance is ever more in check,
Seeking truth rather than reasons,
Knowing order exists despite chaos;
Choosing inspiration over defeat -
All is perceived with a loving heart,
Becoming more complete every day,
Fostering creations formed and found;
Artistry that goes beyond the page.”

Wow…

And the artwork is amazing.

Aww, *Sparky*! It means SO much to me that this spoke to you.. Though inspired by & absolutely about my mum, I really wanted it to speak to similar souls (as would she). That final verse is indeed the culmination of all that’s gone before, both within & without the poem, :smile: so I’m thankful it stood out.

Isn’t Momma’s painting perfect? It so captures the truth, beauty, freedom & love we’re seeking!

How can I thank you for such a perfect birthday gift? The poem is wonderful & the words speak to my heart!!! And the painting’s not bad either!! It’s one of my favorites, one that I did for Donna, remembering the novel “A White Bird Flying” which she gave to me. Very happy!!! :grin: Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!! I am loving you!!! Can I keep you???

No thanx ever needed for feelings expressed but as truth is always a gift, I’ll accept them.. :wink: What touches my heart is that my words spoke to yours! Please do keep me; I’m just beyond thankful it was you to whom God lent me. I love you too, more than words can actually express!!! <3

The painting’s certainly not bad, far from it & — just as I said above — perfectly captures our pursuits for they’re what make our souls soar. It also meant so much to be able to incorporate your twin (What’s a two year age difference?), especially with both her birth & death days coming right after your birthday. Donna will ever be a part of you thus needed to be part of a celebration of you.

SO proudly yours |_|) “She finds happiness in whatever happiness I meet, she understands what I understand and why I understand it, she prays for me even when I pray for no-one but myself, she sees all the beauty I tell her I see and delights in it through my eyes. That is my mother. She would give me the whole world if she could gather it in her arms. That is why she will never have the whole world in her arms; that is why she will always have the whole of my love.” ~ Philippos

A beautiful post, poem and picture…Deeply moving, with imagery that touches at a soulful level…

Mom should be proud, and so should you!

I absolutely loved it…

Peace, love and white light, Nick

Reaching your soul is an incomparable compliment; thank YOU! Momma & I are almost ridiculously proud of each other; we claim each success of the other as our own. :eek:

As I have very few actual poems left & hadn’t written any in quite some time, I am delighted that you loved this effort..

Your mother must be a wonderful person, you are both lucky to have each other. Don’t ever forget, even when long distances separate you, mothers should always be most special to us.
