Dorian,

I could get lost for days in your blog posts. Just love the way you write with such passion and care for your readers.

Thanks for sharing more of yourself. The more we know you, the more we love you. Your advice is always so timely and thoughtful.

Was Paris everything you thought it would be? It's the one city I'm determined to visit before I leave this earth :-)

Cheers,
Charee

I’m humbled, gratified & thrilled; tis such a goodness that the passion & care come thru. Sharing of myself is part & parcel of any advice for it’s our experiences that allow us to learn as we live. Thus, the advice itself is shaped by my life but its timing is shaped by the lives that touch mine. We are all connected, leaving ripples that can & should affect each other..
Speaking of tangible intangibles, Paris has an energy that could never disappoint. That trip will always be one of my favorite weeks tho’ it wasn’t long enough, not that any time frame would be. There are a few things in particular we tried to fit in but couldn’t, like Monet’s garden, that beckon me back. There’s so much yet to see!
(|_|*cheers*|_|)
“When you’ve walked up the Rue la Paix at Paris,
Been to the Louvre and the Tuileries,
And to Versailles, although to go so far is
A thing not quite consistent with your ease,
And–but the mass of objects quite a bar is
To my describing what the traveller sees.
You who have ever been to Paris, know;
And you who have not been to Paris–go!”
- John Ruskin, “A Tour Through France”

I'm with you on...

* Having been a retail manager.
* A Knight's Tale.
* Criminal Minds.
* San Diego vacations.
* Bagels with lox, and Hangtown Fry.
* San Francisco. I've lived all over the world, but it's still my favorite city.

My, what good taste we have! I’m greatly looking forward to Heath’s other Knight film too. “Criminal Minds” not only offers great writing & characters but brilliantly bookends them w/excellent quotations. You may have noticed my preoccupation w/quotes.
Location-wise, our connections don’t end w/our exquisite taste for my brother lives in Rohnert Park. Wave to him for me, would you?

I wanted to tell you how much I love the analogy you drew between our lives/days and a many-paned window. That is so true! It can be too easy at times of stress to focus (or in my case obsess) on the one pane/obligation causing the stress, when if you back up & look at the whole window there are so many other panes/parts of the day, that if attended to & given equal time (or even just moments here & there) can provide comfort, replenish energy & ease the stress with the joy of other endeavors. It will really help me a lot to remember this & I will try to put it into practice! You have mentioned before in other posts the importance of finding moments (or letting them find you) in every day, & choosing to recognize & appreciate them. I truly love that concept. Thank you for the reminder to embrace the good stuff & let it help me to handle the not-so-good stuff. Another beautiful lesson on 'balance' from my Libra child. :) Love you!!! <3

Perfectly summed up, as always! It’s those moments here & there that are so powerful. While a moment isn’t enough to derail us, an enjoyable moment will get us back on track. There is nothing more debilitating than stress so, anytime our current focus is overwhelming us, it’s not concentration but distraction that will refocus us. Of course, they need to be healthy distractions which is where choice comes in. The tho’t of how sudden laughter affects us proves the point -- successful days are those punctuated w/joy.
W/a little bit of luck, such moments will find us; we need only be open. The very reason I don’t try to avoid the not-so-good is the counter-balancing of all the good you taught me to recognize. May you know more balance every day, tis a joy to help in that endeavor.. Voila: your comment IS a moment. All my love w/all my heart!! <3

What? Reedley is not mentioned? Or Squaw Valley, CA (the inconspicuous one)? You have such good taste in places! And food! (& movies! I've seen them all!)

And I can't think of anyone else who would long to be at Porterville Convalescent Hospital. I wish for that every day. We must meet there often in thought! I so love you!!! <3

HA, the inconspicuous Squaw Valley indeed, as if people even know there’s another one!? Then there’s Reedley; if it weren’t for what childhood memories I do have, I’d hate it but we both know it also kept me alive by having boundaries so easy to push. Its smallness (in fact & mind) also helped sparked our interest in other places & experiences thus our great good taste.
We must meet there in tho’t often indeed, no doubt giving G & G chills each time given how strong our joint desire is. I love you three beyond words! <3 <3 <3

"Porterville Convalescent Hospital"

Can I ask why?

Of course you can ask! I’m an open (if currently slightly delayed) book.
My Grandma’s failing health, which caused & is complicated by diabetes, has entered a vicious cycle as she ends up in the ER if living at home. As careful a caregiver as Granddad is, recurring internal issues create a dangerous domino effect & can only be kept in check w/constant medical monitoring. The cruel irony is that, once she moves to the Convalescent Hospital & improves, she gets well enough to go home which merely starts the cycle again. Granddad’s been picking her up in the afternoons of late tho’, providing her visits home & elsewhere, so her own restlessness is abating which means she may finally stay in hospital thus well but still lonely at times therefore I want to be there ALL the time.

So many people don't understand that to serve others better we first must recognize our own needs therefore there are times we must say NO to things. I think if more people would realize this more things could be accomplished rather then less. And more people would be happier and have more energy rather then just barely getting by.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!! =>

Too many people are barely getting by & not only need to say “no” more readily but also need to ask for help more often. It seems ironic yet, if we’re answering queries honestly, we can all more freely ask. Those willing to say no allow the asker to find someone for whom the help needed is mutually beneficial in some way.
Thanx for the Anniversary wishes! Thanx also for commenting, keep it up..
