Find your inner cat =^@.@^=

in What FUN

Shadow feeling safe w/her watchful big bro, TazCats have doing things on their own terms down to a science. My little girl is named Shadow.. with good cause. Reaching down to pet her while passing by recently, I barely caught a flick of her tail as she dashed under the nearby table. As she is quite skittish & well deserving of her name (which she already had upon her rescue), this was not surprising nor could I take it personally. My route took me past the other side of said table & there she was; purrfectly poised in my path, awaiting my arrival. She meowed her request to now be pet — on her terms.

Whether it’s the choices we make moment to moment or the life-changing ones, Shadow reminds us to look for options that consider our needs. In doing so, we start to create our own happiness. What is happiness really but being in sync with ourselves. We feel good when things feel right & what feels better than being true to yourself? So, you may have learned all you really need to know in kindergarten or from Star Trek (okay, a lot of my life lessons have resonated on many an Enterprise) but I’m learning to be a more fulfilled human from my cats.

Of course, my tutelage would not be complete without knowing a bit more about them, such as:

  • Cat Quotes — Several Hundred Quotes by Famous, anonymous, and other cat lovers.
  • Cat Proverbs — Proverbs from around the world, as well as some unknown origin proverbs.
  • Cat Sayings — Various Sayings from around the world.
  • Cat Superstitions — Cat myths, superstitions from around the world.

An observation of cats quickly shows the most important lesson to be learned from them is to live life to its fullest. After all, “He [or she] who lives without folly isn’t so wise as [s/]he thinks.” (François de La Rochefoucauld)

CORONA 'on my cat'

Now then, while appearance is not crucial & should never take priority, it absolutely affects how we feel & are perceived. Cats, & other animals, certainly put their wiles to effective use.

Speaking of those other animals, not to mention cuteness, I’m also a dog lover from way back & readily admit they have lessons to teach as well. Loyalty is far from the least of these & by far their forté. The link above is offered to keep the love-fest fair but never forget, “A dog is a dog, a bird is a bird, and a cat is a person.” (Mugsy Peabody)

I DID find my inner cat, but my inner child was playing with it and told me to butt out. I get no respect.

“But I don’t want to go among mad people,” Alice remarked.
“Oh, you can’t help that,” said the Cat: “We’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad.”
“How do you know I’m mad?” said Alice.
“You must be,” said the Cat, “or you wouldn’t have come here.”
Alice didn’t think that proved it at all: however she went on. “And how do you know that you’re mad?”
“To begin with,” said the Cat, “a dog’s not mad. You grant that?”
“I suppose so,” said Alice
“Well, then,” the Cat went on, “you see a dog growls when it’s angry, and wags its tail when it’s pleased. Now I growl when I’m pleased, and wag my tail when I’m angry. Therefore I’m mad.”

Hey girl. Thanks for visiting my blog. I just spent an hour or so reading your blog and your hunny’s. Delightful. You are very thoughtful. It’s a pleasure getting to know you through your writing. Meanwhile, I also love the kitty photos. Mine (named Mao after The Chairman) is curled up under my knees under the covers right now — her favorite place.

I look forward to reading more. Also — there are some very groovy images on the Library of Congress website. Old coffee ads and labels. Enjoy!

Your blog was a joy to visit! SO glad you found the reciprocal visit worthwhile. Thoughtful is just about the best compliment a girl of my ilk can get; thanx ever so!

MEOW to Mao!! Well, Taz just jumped up on my lap so apparently sends meows to Mao as well. Thanx too for the great tip.. off to http://www.loc.gov I go..

Nice Post!

Did you know that you can now save up to 40% on TUNA and assorted cat toys at PETCO?

There you are again; my own, special spammer — masquerading as my very own hunny, no less! What? Planning to resell our tuna to me?! Cuz you know I’m a PetSmart gal.

Hi Taz! Hi Shadow! Wow, do you two EVER look distinguished! I wholeheartedly agree with your Momma that cats are indeed special and highly regarded. :-) Very Noble. Adored. I am very honoured to be your auntie. :-) xoxo

MEOW AuntE! We can’t help how gorgeous we are but thank you for noticing & appreciate your recognition of how important we are too. We’ve chosen our humans well & make sure they feel loved while keeping them on their toes. Just don’t forget our treats when you finally visit..

While lorna was fooling around making a dancing avatar, I was reading your blog and noting with great appreciation, your hommage to felines. I will bring it to lorna’s attention later.

[in reply to my 1st reply above]

As Alice stared up at The Cheshire Cat, his body started to disappear, all but his big grin smiling away. Alice thought, “How Curious.” This, of course, is paraphrased but the meaning is still there. That they are indeed incredible. ;) :) Alice aka Aunt E

Okay now, so when did all these CATS learn to use a qwerty keyboard?

Daddy,
We treat you so fairly, you may have forgotten but..

Dogs have owners. Cats have staff.

Yes, our cats are full of wisdom and teach us about life. They are fun too, Hailey likes to play hide and seek. She hides when its time to eat and runs to her bowl only after I find her.

The line, “A dog is a dog, a bird is a bird, but a cat is a person” is from a story called “The Cat, The Potted Palm, and The Naked Lady,” on my blog at http://mugsypeabody.blogspot.com/

Enjoy.
