Truth - Beauty - Freedom - Love

From Pooh Corner to poetry
With courage and coffee
Thru Art for art’s sake
She inspirited me

From Upstart Crow to unity
With trust and tea parties
Thru Truth for my sake
She inscribed her love

From Camp Nelson to crazy
With freedom and fantasy
Thru Faith for our sake
She inspires me still

“A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.”
~ Washington Irving ~

This is wonderful! I’ve bookmarked it because it’s inspiring and touching all at once.

Thanks for your kind comments on my post. My mom liked it too. :)

I found myself reading many a Mothers’ Day post in lieu of being able to see my mum that day & e-mailed the posts to her. Your mom enjoying my comment (on your post) brings that journey full circle as my mum has greatly enjoyed these; thank you both!

I’m thrilled to be bookmarked & even more thrilled to have inspired. Looking forward to future visits (& tweets)..

What a sweet tribute — clearly she did a lot right, raising you :)

That she did (& does), especially by being my friend as well. Your Mothers’ Day post depicts a mother who also treated her children as the people they are.

Thanx for stopping by! I so appreciate your site.. What better gift could our mothers’ have given us than the encouragement of tho’t?!

Totally love that quote! I have to wonder…has any commenter used up their alloted 3000 characters? ;) I’d be impressed.

Having experienced everything the quote references, I can attest it’s no exaggeration; my mum is a peace-maker by nature but a peace-giver by choice! Your own Mothers’ Day post expresses the versatility of mothers well & the “fabulosity” of your own.

I’m awfully glad to ’see’ you here as To Think Is To Create. Speaking of creating tho’, no-one has yet created a 3,000 character comment — what a comment that would be!?

Wonderful poem and great mom tribute. Plus, you reminded me of tea parties…need to go write now…

This poem grew from seeds planted while I was writing her birthday poem; this one’s a different species to be sure but hopefully just as noble.

Speaking of planting ideas, what a joy to have any part in bringing your brilliant tea post about!

Dorian, I’d been thinking about my mom all day when I read this. I wish I had been creatively writing about her. We lost her about 18 months ago, and I miss her every day, but in a prideful, almost satisfied way. She was awesome.

Now, that kind of pride is healthy.. My mum & I do feel a sense of self-satisfaction in each other’s accomplishments. It’s encouraging to be reminded the feeling’s timeless, particularly as we’re facing her mom’s mortality.

I remember your mom’s passing & hurt for you still; she passed her awesomeness along.

That was very nice, I stopped by to say hello and thanks for visiting Life’s Little Inspirations!

I am a huge coffee fan. On my third cup of the morning with lots more to go, so I’m sure I’ll be back! It looks like a fun place to be! Loved the post about Moms!

Clearly, coffee & inspiration go together! I’m awfully glad you came by & liked what you found to boot.. The coffee’s always on; looking forward to your next visit already.

Excited by the concept of your blog, it was a nice bit of synchronicity to see so much of myself in your Mothers’ Day post.

Well, it has taken me quite awhile to get here to send some heartfelt words of thanks back to you for your Mum’s Day post, & now that I’m here & reading my poem again, I find myself speechless – overwhelmed by the sheer force of such a beautiful tribute in such the fitting & perfect format of a poem! It’s perfect because it’s so ‘us’! The places you spoke of in the poem (Camp Nelson, Upstart Crow, Pooh Corner) spoke to my heart because they conjured up memories of very special moments in time, that you & I created, just by sharing them! Thank you for the gift of the beautiful words AND the memories they inspired!!! I so often felt so inept at mothering then because it was so new, and all I had to draw on was sheer instinct & the pure love that you inspired! :) AND the wonderful example of my own parents! (I remember being surprised that I had been paying attention!) It’s so great to go back to those places. We’ve both been through all kinds of crazy since Camp Nelson (playing at the creek!) & Winnie the Pooh curtains & huggable Eeyores! Not to mention coffee & books at the Upstart Crow! But what we found there has brought us through the tough times, & lit up our memories of the good times & added the magic! Truth told, you were MY inspiration to try to create that life! And I couldn’t have done it without you. So THANK YOU!!! And I love you, too, with all my heart & all to pieces & back again! <3<3<3

Just as my goal is to deliver quality before quantity, I’m glad you waited til you had time to expound for you’ve described my poem’s allusions incredibly well. Given it’s about you, that’s no surprise yet it’s powerful to have such internal imagery & intent reflected. You’ve described me as your alter-ego & you’re my inner compass; I hope [for their sakes] many a parent & child aren’t only as compatible but also as complementary as we.

Moments are created when shared which is why we’re still building our connection, even if online anymore, & precisely what makes online interaction significant. As we inspire others, we benefit.. G & G (aka your parents) certainly factor into our success as they showed us each how to live while letting us live the lives they inspired. The ability to ‘let live’ is the one you’ve most made your own & I thank you from the bottom of my reconstructed heart! I love you too, w/all the unconditional love you instilled in me!! <3

Just a beautiful sentiment. We mothers who have loving daughters are the luckiest people in the world.~~Dee
